Ecuador Photo Gallery: Amazon

We visited Ecuador in November, 2019.

Yasuni National Park lies between the Napo and Curaray Rivers in Amazonian Ecuador and is Ecuador's largest mainland national park. It is primarily rainforest, one of the world's most bio-diverse jungles and a Unesco international biodiversity reserve. More than six hundred bird species are found in Yasuni.

We flew in to Coca (Puerto Francisco de Orellano), the capital of Orellano province, and then took a motorized river boat two hours up the Napo River, a major tributary of the Amazon.

We stayed at the Napo Wildlife Center ecolodge, two hours by canoe up a small blackwater river from the Napo River to the Anangucocha Lagoon. The lodge is owned by the Anangu Kichwa community.

We camped inside the park one night to search for river dolphins.
