Nearly 250 species of mammals are found in Costa Rica.
Agoutis:
Central American agouti, Dasyprocta punctata
Bats: More than half of the mammal species found in Costa Rica are bats.
(identification tentative) lesser sac-winged (white-lined) bat, Saccopteryx leptura
Cats: Six species of wild cats are found in Costa Rica. We did not see the jaguarundi, Herpailurus yagouaroundi, or the oncilla (little spotted cat, tigrillo), Leopardus tigrinus.

Sloths: There are two species of sloths. They are related to anteaters and tamanduas.

Hoffman's two-toed sloth, Choloepus hoffmanni
Squirrels: Five species of squirrels are found in Costa Rica, though we only saw the most common one.
